Release Train Engineer (RTE)

  • Equivalent to a Chief Scrum Master for the Agile Release Train
  • Servant leader coordinating all teams in the ART
  • Organizes key events: PI Planning, ART Sync, Inspect & Adapt
  • Ensures removal of cross-team impediments
  • Keeps the train on track to deliver PI objectives
  • In hospitals: Often senior project managers or IT process experts

Product Manager

  • Owns the Program Backlog containing Features
  • Defines product vision and roadmap at program level
  • Prioritizes Features based on business value and customer needs
  • Collaborates with POs, customers, and Business Owners
  • Ensures the digital ecosystem meets requirements
  • In hospitals: Often IT department heads or digital innovation leaders

System Architect/Engineer

  • Provides technical leadership for the solution
  • Defines system architecture and technical framework
  • Makes architectural decisions and sets technology standards
  • Responsible for technical enablers across teams
  • Ensures the solution is consistent and scalable
  • In hospitals: Senior technical architects with healthcare IT experience

Business Owners

  • Key stakeholders from the business (hospital management, department heads)
  • Ensure ARTs align with the hospital's strategic goals
  • Participate in PI Planning to provide business context
  • Accept PI results and validate business outcomes
  • Ultimately responsible for business success
  • In hospitals: Clinical directors, nursing leaders, hospital executives
