Epic Owner
- Drives large Epics (enterprise-wide initiatives)
- Defines the Business Case for new epic initiatives
- Coordinates flow through Portfolio Kanban process
- Works with implementation teams to realize the Epic's vision
- In hospitals: Could be Chief Medical/Digital Officers or transformation leaders
Lean Portfolio Management (LPM)
- Not a single role but a function or committee
- Comprises business leaders, development, and clinical leadership
- Handles strategic portfolio steering:
- Prioritizing Epics based on strategic alignment
- Allocating Lean Budgets with guardrails
- Establishing governance appropriate for healthcare
- Monitoring results and ROI
- Adjusts investments based on strategic goals
- Ensures flow at the portfolio level
- In hospitals: Often includes hospital board members, CIO, CDO, CMO, CNO
Solution Level Roles (for very large initiatives)
- Solution Train Engineer (STE) - Coordinates multiple ARTs
- Solution Management - Handles product management for solution-spanning capabilities
- Solution Architect - Ensures technical coherence across ARTs
